2020 saw the onset of Covid-19 and the lockdowns it would bring, but for Palmerstown House Estate it saw the opportunity to plan and flourish. In March 2020 like every other business, we closed our doors to our customers and staff alike and as we headed off with laptops under our arms and we set our sights on the future.
A key part of course of that future was our essential maintenance team members and green keepers to keep the Golf Course in tip top condition, particularly in that smashing lockdown 1 weather. But while the golf course simply endured from an exterior perspective it was flourishing on paper…
Green’s 1 to 9 as everyone who has played the course will know are something special to behold, with the 7th Hole reportedly Designer Christy o Connor Juniors personal favourite. But, there was room for PAR-fection on the 10th
Originally flanked by bunkers, the new 10th Green was rebuilt and redesigned to create the 10th Island Green surrounding it almost entirely by water. The 10th green was launched on April 26th 2021 – re opening date.
Reaction to this unique feature has been everything from tactical to whimsical but resoundingly and repeatedly positive;
“Its made a huge improvement to the course. It’s one of the holes I look forward to playing even before my round starts. It’s definitely become our stand out signature hole on a super course. I’ve heard nothing but positive comments from both members & visitors. And you have to play it sober! 😊”
